Summary:
This position is an at-will position and under direction of the Public Works Commissioner, serves as a liaison between Macomb County Public Works (MCPW), township and city Public Works staff.
Disseminates information on procedures required by MCPW for various county, local and state mandated requirements, assists with communication strategy and implementation, conveys operational programs and policies, responds to inquiries from the public, provides reports on various MCPW projects which impact neighborhoods.
This position attends meetings of township boards and city commissions as directed, monitors construction progress schedules and performs related duties as assigned.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND
Responsibilities:
Serves as operational liaison to city and township Public Works department staff.
Provides information to local officials and the public on procedures and practices as requested by local, state and federal regulations that affect water quality and drain maintenance.
Conducts outreach activities and meetings with Macomb County residents to resolve concerns and provide storm drain maintenance best practices.
Facilitates programming that advances the goals of the MCPW with elected officials and community groups.
Attends various city and township meetings to provide information regarding MCPW activities within their communities.
Attends various community and organizational meetings as directed.
May prepare and present a variety of reports and create presentation materials for the Commissioner and other target audiences.
Monitors legislation that directly affects MCPW, assists with grant submissions as directed and assists with department special projects and events.
Provides information to the general public and answers questions from public and elected officials.
Supports Public Works Communications Manager in conducting outreach and meetings with Macomb County residents to resolve concerns and provide Best Management Practices to residents and local building/construction industry.
Operates an automobile to perform assigned job functions.

Qualifications:
Required Education and Experience Possession of a high school diploma or a certificate of successful completion of the General Educational Development Test Three (3) years of experience with local, county, state or federal government agency in public administration or communications Preferred Education and Experience Bachelor's degree in Public Administration, Communications, Political Science or related field Required Licenses or Certifications Possession of a valid Michigan driver's license and an operable insured automobile for authorized travel COMPETENCIES FOR SUCCESSFUL PERFORMANCE OF JOB DUTIES:
Knowledge of:
Principles and practices of public administration, communications, finance or engineering Microsoft Suite of programs, including Word, Excel, Publisher, Powerpoint, OnBase, Accela Customer Relations Management software, and have an understanding of graphic design concepts Skill in:
